Central Flame is
CORGI registered - what does that mean?
 | All businesses, whether employers or self employed persons, who carry out
work on gas fittings (using gases described in the Gas Safety (Installation &
Use) Regulations (GSIUR's)), must be CORGI registered for gas work. |
 | As a homeowner,
tenant,
landlord
or gas installer you have rights and responsibilities, where gas safety is
concerned. |
 | As a landlord, you are responsible for
the safety of your tenants. The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations
1998 specifically deal with the duties of landlords to ensure that gas
appliances, fittings and flues provided for tenants' use are safe.
 | In general, a landlord's gas safety duties apply to appliances and flues
in "relevant premises" - residential properties occupied for residential
purposes under either a licence, a tenancy agreement for a set term, or a
lease. Essentially any lease of under seven years is covered. |
 | Remember, safety checks are not only part of your legal requirements,
they ensure that appliances are working correctly and guard against the
dangers of carbon monoxide. |
 | Landlords who have breached the gas safety
laws and put lives at risk have faced tough sentencing recently in the
courts. Their punishment sends a clear warning to anyone tempted to break
the law and is undoubtedly helping crack down on illegal gas work. |
|
 | As a homeowner you have a
responsibility to yourself and the residents in your home to ensure that your
gas fittings and appliances are safe. It is very important that gas
appliances are installed and regularly checked for safety by a CORGI
Registered Gas Installer. CORGI recommends that you arrange safety checks on
an annual basis. |
Central Flame is

 | CITB stands for Construction Industry Training Board -
it is a Government prescribed standard of general standards of training and
expertise |
 | By 2010 it will be essential to prove your skills
and qualifications before you can work on a site. A range of card schemes have

industry-standard way of proving their expertise. |
